Watermelon Cleanse
Watermelon really doesn't get the props it deserves. To write it off as fresh but with no real nutritious value, couldn't be more wrong. It contains more lycopene (prevents cardiovascular disease) and beta carotene than tomatoes and it has tons of vitamin C and A, which are antioxidants that protect your cells from damage. It's good for the heart, lowers cholesterol, relaxes the blood vessels while stimulating circulation in a powerful way.
It's a great idea to do a watermelon cleanse to get rid of all those nasty toxins that get stored and puts a strain on our bodies, primarily in the kidneys. It's because watermelons are highly antioxidant but also because they have a slightly laxative and diuretic effect (promotes urine flow). Add some ginger to give it extra flavor and kick. You can mix in some extra ginger if your want to stimulate additional weight loss.
Depending on if you want a shake or juice, use more or less ice or water in your blender. I like it somewhere in the middle, and I mix a small bucket of ice and about a half a glass of water. Garnish with some lime and you'll have a perfect summery cool drink.
