Among his accomplishments of helping debut A$AP Rocky’s 2013 album “Long.Live.A$AP” at number one on the Billboard chart, A$AP Yam co-owned the A$AP Worldwide label and founded A$AP Mob, a collective of rappers, producers, video directors and fashion designers. Yams, whose real name is Steven Rodriguez, grew up at the southern edge of Harlem and met A$AP Rocky in 2008 through mutual friends.

Yams admitted in 2013 to having issues with narcotics stating “I got to chill. It’s not a good look up there in the office. They’re not gonna have any faith.” He went on to explain he had choked on his own vomit at the 2013 Coachella music festival while high on Xanax and cough syrup.
